Pygmy Date Palm (Phoenix roebelenii)

This Palm is one of the more graceful and delicate looking varieties available.

One can acquire these Palms as single, double or, as this picture shows, triple stemmed plants.

It originates from Laos but is quite a tough Palm tolerating cool conditions. Incidentally, the name ‘roebelenii‘ comes from the surname of Carl Roebelen who originally discovered the species.
